Bat - An Introduction
Saturday, July 22nd, 2006Being the only mammal that can fly bats have modified hands and arms that serve as wings capable of sustained flight. There are estimated to be about 1,100 species of bats worldwide: about 20% of all mammal species. Bats have been flitting across the night skies since the last 50 million years. Bats vary in social structure, with some bats leading a solitary life and others living in caves colonized by more than a million bats.
